My Story

UPDATE:

As you will see below - we had initially targetted running 2 marathons between us, and raising £500 for the foodbank. Thanks to everyones incredible generosity, we are now targeting over 10 marathons, and the equivalent of running from Newcastle to London.

We've now raised more than £1500, so do help us break the £2000 barrier for this amazing cause!

During these difficult and uncertain times, the Newcastle Univeristy UCU running club have decided to do a small, socially distanced fundraiser for Newcastle West End Foodbank.

The West End Foodbank was already one of the busiest and most relied upon foodbanks in the country. With the impact of Covid-19 still developing, the foodbank may be needed by more people than ever. We would like to do our small bit in raising some funds for this incredible Newcastle organisation.

On Sunday 3rd May, members of the running club will be doing a 'Solidarity Sprint'. We'll all be running on the same day, socially distanced and in the vicinty of our own homes. We hope to cover at least 2 marathons worth distance between us, something that will involve overcoming boredom as much as endurance for some of us as we run countless laps of the same area.

We'll share a running total of our distance on the day. We thank you for any support you can give.
